The convenience of having a smart home:

  1. Automation: Smart homes allow you to automate various tasks, such as turning on/off lights, adjusting thermostats, locking doors, and more. This can save time and effort while enhancing comfort and convenience.
  2.  Remote control: With smart home systems, you can control and monitor devices remotely using smartphone apps. This means you can turn off lights, adjust temperatures, or check security cameras from anywhere, providing peace of mind and flexibility.
  3. Energy efficiency: Smart home devices can help optimize energy usage by allowing you to schedule or automate energy-consuming devices. For example, you can set lights to turn off automatically when no one is in the room, or adjust thermostats based on occupancy, leading to energy savings.
  4.  Enhanced security: Smart home security systems offer features like motion detection, video monitoring, and remote access control. You can receive real-time alerts and monitor your home’s security, even when you are away.
  5. Integration and compatibility: Smart home systems often offer integration with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, allowing you to control devices using voice commands. They can also integrate with other smart devices or platforms, creating a unified and interconnected smart home ecosystem.
  6. Overall, having a smart home provides convenience, energy efficiency, enhanced security, and the ability to control and monitor your home remotely, making daily tasks easier and more efficient.

Who is suitable for a smart home?

EVERYONE!

  • no matter whether you are staying in an HDB or landed.
  • no matter if it’s an office or an industrial.
  • no matter if it’s a new or old space.
  • Outsmart has all kinds of products that suit all your needs.

Basic understanding of Wifi / Zigbee smart home

A WiFi smart home and a Zigbee smart home are both types of smart home systems that allow you to automate and control various devices in your home.

Both systems are able to be intertwined as long as they are all connected to the Outsmart app.

Example of automation: Once the Zigbee motion sensor detected a motion, the WiFi smart light will turn on.

WiFi Smart Home (Pros) :

  • Connects to 2.4 GHz WiFi technology directly to your home network.
  • Can connect to a wide range of devices, including smart remotes, smart thermostats, smart plugs, security cameras, and more.
  • Offers easy setup and integration with other WiFi-enabled devices you may already have in your home
Cons:
  • May require a very strong and stable WiFi network for optimal performance.
  • Taking up the bandwidth of the home WiFi router, which may cause a lag in speed and response.
  • The product will get disconnected frequently because all the wifi products are trying to get connected, but the router is unable to perform up to speed.
  • The product will auto-reset, and the lights will go back into pairing mode because of inconsistent connectivity.
  • Lag in streaming online movies, Youtube videos, etc.
  • Lag in gaming
  • Devices such as mobile phones, televisions, laptops, and tablets are also taking a lot of load off the WiFi router.
  • It is not ideal to automate a smart sensor with a smart light; the automation will only react for about 5–8 seconds.

Zigbee Smart Home (Pros) :

  • Uses Zigbee wireless technology, which is a low-power, low-cost wireless communication standard.
  • Requires a Zigbee hub or gateway to connect and control devices.
  • Can connect to a variety of devices, such as smart lights, sensors, smart switches and more.
  • It works really well with sensor automation. Example: When the smart door sensor is open, the smart light will switch on instantly.
  • Offers reliable and secure communication between devices, as Zigbee operates on a separate wireless frequency.
  • Supports communication with Wifi products, as long as they are in Outsmart app
  • Consumes less power compared to WiFi, making Zigbee devices more energy-efficient.
  • Most ideal for a smart home experience
Cons:
  • additional set-up of the hub; additional cost of the hub.
  • much more costly for individual products that are running on Zigbee
